Generator | 1 kW JP8 Fuel Spark Ignition Engine Generator (DAC Program)

CERDEC Army Power has developed a compact, one man portable 1 kW JP8 fuelpowered demonstrator that meets military field performance requirements and is built using a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Honda EU1000i product. The generator weighs 46 lbs (including fuel and oil), can be handled by one person and is quiet enough for special operations in remote sites (59 dBA @ 7 meters). Two 1 kW sets are 66 lbs lighter than a 2KW MEP MTG, and 20 dBA quieter. The generator, which is designed to run on fuels readily available in theater (JP8, DF 1 & 2, and JetA1), provides high power density, and tests have proven that it can operate more than 1000 hours with no mechanical or performance degradation. The increased power availability and deployment flexibility would allow for support to TOC operations, vehicle mounted and dismounted Soldier operations at the tactical edge, and civil/humanitarian operations. Projected Benefits: Increase power availability and deployment flexibility Support vehicle and dismounted operations Lighten the Soldier's load and reduce his logistical footprint Quietly deliver high power density (59 dBA @ 7 meters and 19.5 W/lb) Reduces fuel delivery to remote sites (.48 Gal provides 1 kW for four hours) For more information contact CERDEC Public Affairs, (443) 861-7566, or visit the CERDEC Army Power Division: http://www.cerdec.army.mil/c2d/armypower.
