TRAVELS FROM
North Carolina

A marketing innovator across the sports and entertainment industries, Max Siegel made history as the highest
ranking African‐American executive in NASCAR when he became President of Global Operations at Dale
Earnhardt Inc. Before that, he held dual titles at Sony/BMG, serving as both senior vice president of Zomba
Label Group, where he was part of the executive team overseeing the careers of stars such as Britney Spears,
Justin Timberlake, and Usher; and as president of Zomba Gospel, where he helped mastermind the
unprecedented success of gospel greats such as Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond and Donnie McClurkin. A
graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School, he founded a talent agency that represented stars of
music and sports, including football legend Reggie White and batting champion Tony Gwynn. Now CEO of Max
Siegel Inc. a sports, marketing, entertainment, and media holding company, he works with brands to meet
lifestyle, entertainment and diversity needs in different industries. The divisions of Max Siegel Inc. include
Revolution racing, a NASCAR sanctioned, minority owned race team designed to develop minority and female
race car drivers; The 909 Group a lifestyle marketing agency; Blueprint Universal, an urban inspiration label
with multi-media platform designed to engage, enhance, and expand the lives of people around the world
through music and lifestyle entertainment; and in media, Max Siegel Inc. creates literary, television and film
properties, including the soon-to-be released BET series, “Changing Lanes,” and the Harper Collins book, Know
What Makes Them Tick: How to Negotiate Almost Any Situation.

The 909 Group clients include NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt Inc., BET Networks, the Minnesota Vikings and Baker &
Daniels Law Offices. At Baker & Daniels Max serves a diverse group of clients, including corporations and
production companies; coaches, athletes, and entertainers; labels; and foundations. He has represented sports
athletes like Tony Gwynn and Reggie White and currently represents a variety of entertainers and athletes,
who call on him for his sound advice, understanding of their industry, and savvy business expertise.
Siegel has appeared on Oprah, NPR’s Tavis Smiley, ABC’s Good Morning America, ESPN, and CNBC; he has
been featured in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, the New York Times, Crain’s New York Business, Black
Enterprise, Billboard Magazine, Gospel Truth Magazine, and Gospel Times Magazine, among others.
There’s not a situation that daunts him and not a dilemma he thinks the principles in Know What Makes
Them Tick can’t solve. As he travels the country giving motivational speeches, managers, artists, church
leaders, sports figures, and businesspeople are drawn to his ability to connect with people across
disciplines, cultures, and ages. He has spoken to a wide range of organizations including Hershey Corp., Eli
Lilly, ESPN, the National Dental Association, the U.S. Army Key Influencer Tour, Columbia Law School,
Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Conference, Black Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association Annual
Conference, University of Michigan Law School, and Howard University School of Law.

Siegel’s career has an unlikely trajectory. A self made man, he started with none of the obvious
advantages, yet again and again he built mutually beneficial partnerships – with peers, mentors,
supervisors, and industry leaders – that took him to the heights of professional and personal achievement.
He's grown fragmented niche markets into bestseller-sized audiences by tapping into the universal hopes
and passions that bring people together. Now he travels the country, giving motivational speeches and
inspiring professionals of all kinds, sharing his method for connecting with people, whatever their
differences.

The secret, Siegel says, is to know what makes others tick. For some, it's security; for others, respect,
devotion to family, a creative calling or a vision of a better world. He shows how to encourage people to
share these hidden, all-important motivations, and how to partner with them in the most powerful way
there is: by finding the overlap between their goals and yours, so together you can achieve the dreams
that make you tick. he’s managed artists and sports teams, singers and racecar drivers. He’s convinced
recording artists to experiment with new kinds of music and talked athletes into working for the good of
the team rather than their own individual glory. He’s worked in primarily black organizations and virtually
all-white ones.

Siegel gives audiences guidelines for assessing what motivates others. In just nine simple steps, he shows
exactly how to find the right people and motivate them to help you realize your deepest goals. Siegel’s
rules work because they are universal: one set of principles for success in work and in personal
relationships, for spiritual life and with family. These are the rules that took him, his clients and his
companies everywhere they needed to go.

Siegel has served adjunct professorships in Sports & Entertainment Law (Indiana University School of Law ‐
Indianapolis) and Law of the Music Business (Seton Hall University, Newark, N.J.). His many honors include
the NASCAR Diversity Award, 2004 Outstanding Professional Achievement Award, the Joseph Papp Racial
Harmony Award, Gospel Heritage Foundation ‐‐ 2004 Executive of the Year, Crain’s New York Business
Journal ‐‐ 40 Under 40, Center for Leadership Development ‐‐ Entrepreneur of the Year, University of
Notre Dame ‐‐ Black Achievers Alumni Award, and the Gospel Truth Music Awards ‐ Industry Executive of
the Year. He is a member of the American, National, Indiana, and New York Bar Associations, Black
Entertainment & Sports Lawyers Association, National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, and the
